A Treatise on the
22 Laws of Life

The grammar of life.

Life has rules that no one put to a vote. Whoever knows them makes themselves understood by it, and things move forward. Whoever ignores them goes on living — and concludes that the problem lies with others.

The diagnosis

Whoever ignores the grammar
does not stop speaking.

He speaks, no one understands, and after a while he concludes that those people are closed, that they do not like foreigners, and that nothing ever works out for him. The idea that there was a rule, and that it was available to anyone who wanted to learn it, never crosses his mind. Life works the same way.

The same pattern comes back, with other people and another address — and you have already tried everything.
You have understood a great deal about yourself and nothing has moved.
You have read about karma, cycles, and free will in twenty different sources, and each one said something different.
You suspect there is an order beneath the facts, and no one has shown you its design.

This book does not promise that your life will change in twenty-one days. It shows the rule that was already in force.

First of all

What it is — and what it is not

What it is

  • A study of the twenty-two Laws of Life of Virtology, one by one and then all together.
  • The origin of each law, with the tradition cited by name, work, and passage.
  • The philosophical and spiritual reflection on what each law asks of those who take it seriously.
  • The crossing between the laws, which is where the study stops being a list and becomes understanding.
  • In each chapter, misalignment and alignment: how pride resists that law, and which virtues, always in combination, make a person function within it.

What it is not

  • It is not a religious book, although it cites the Scriptures, the Vedas, the Buddha, and the Tao.
  • It is not a physics book, although it converses with Heisenberg, Schrödinger, and Planck.
  • It is not the Law of Attraction or a manifestation manual.
  • It is not self-help with a deadline: nothing here promises change in twenty-one days.
  • It does not replace the Fundamentos da Virtologia, where the complete theory and the clinical management are found.

The design

How each law is studied

Five steps, the same in all twenty-two chapters. You learn the path once and walk it twenty-two times.

Step 1

The statement

What the law says, in one sentence, and what it demands. No metaphor in place of the content.

Step 2

Where it comes from

The origin of the law, tradition by tradition, with the work and the passage. Heraclitus on the coast of Asia Minor, the Buddha in northern India, Egypt weighing the heart against the feather of Ma'at.

Step 3

The reflection

What the law asks of those who take it seriously — and what it costs to ignore it.

Step 4

The law among the others

What separates Karma from Cause and Effect, Mentalism from the Observer, Entanglement from Unity. No law happens alone.

Step 5

Misalignment and alignment

How pride resists that law, and which virtues — always in combination, never one alone — make a person function within it.

At the end

The questions

A few questions with no answer key. They serve to look for the law in the only place where it can be verified, which is life itself.

Where the laws come from

Three lineages, one meeting point

When people who never met, in different centuries and continents, with methods that have nothing in common, arrive at the same observation, that observation deserves attention.

The wisdom tradition

Hermeticism, the Upanishads, Buddhism, the Tao, the Stoics, the Scriptures. They formulated these principles long before laboratories existed.

Science

From the plasticity of the brain to chaos theory, from biological clocks to the Harvard study on what makes a good life. Several laws have been confirmed on the ground of science.

Modern physics

From which some laws take their strongest images, such as the Observer and Entanglement. Physics enters as physics, without proving anything beyond what it proves.

To these three the treatise adds, where it has something to say, the Spiritism of Allan Kardec.

Straight from the book

Excerpts

In the German subordinate clause the verb goes to the end, and the reader only finds out what happened when the sentence ends. The language stays the same, because it already worked that way before he arrived.
Whoever ignores it goes on living, but lives like the foreigner who speaks loudly in a language he never studied, more and more convinced that the problem lies with others.
This book does not argue over which of the traditions is right. It shows the point at which they all meet.
The laws are not mine, and they belong to no one. They were already in force when we arrived, like the grammar of a language we have yet to learn.
Who it is for

Who reads this book

It is for you if

  • You study Virtology and want the twenty-two laws gathered together, with the sources at hand.
  • You work with people and need to see which law is being called on in each case.
  • You come from philosophy, Spiritism, or the traditions and want to see where they meet.
  • You have read a lot about yourself and want to move from the list of concepts to the design that connects them.

It may not be if

  • You are looking for a daily practice protocol — that is the work of The Compass.
  • You want a portrait of your own case — that is the work of The Soul Map.
  • You want a quick read. One law a week is a good pace.

Frequently asked questions

Before you begin

How do I receive the book?

It is a PDF book with instant delivery. As soon as the purchase is confirmed by Hotmart, you receive access and can read it on your phone, tablet, or computer — and print it if you like.

Do I need to know Virtology to read it?

No. The book opens with two short preparatory chapters. The first introduces the vocabulary that returns in every law: pride, selfishness, the Operational Unconscious, human needs, the virtues, the Developmental Bands, and the Law of Flow. The second explains what a law of life is and what it is not.

Is this the Law of Attraction?

No. The Law of the Observer and the Law of Mentalism deal with how the mind organizes experience, and the book is explicit about the limit: physics enters as physics and does not prove Mentalism. No chapter promises that thinking differently changes the facts.

Do I need to read it in order?

The book was written to be read in order, and it can also be opened at the law that is hurting — each chapter stands on its own and brings its own sources. Either way, it is worth not skipping the chapter that reads them together: a law studied in isolation is a loose word, and it is in the sentence that the word gains meaning.

How is it different from The Compass?

The Compass is practice: six virtues, fourteen days each, with a protocol and a journal. The Treatise is study: the twenty-two laws, the origin of each one, and the crossing between them. One trains, the other explains the ground on which the training takes place.

Does it replace the Fundamentos da Virtologia?

No. The Fundamentos, by Dr. Eduardo Casarotto, bring the complete theory of personality, the virtues, the Developmental Bands, the calculations of the unconscious, and the clinical management. The selection, order, and application of the twenty-two laws are his work, and the credit for them is his. On this side only one thing remained: to look at the laws calmly.

The grammar was already in force.
All that is missing is for you to learn it.

Twenty-two laws, from the Upanishads to quantum physics, gathered in a single book.
